Fringe Map (edfringemap.com) is a free, independent interactive map of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, plotting all 4,294 shows across 291 venues on a single map you can filter by genre, day and area. Every show is available in five languages. It is built by Oliver and Jessica Cormack, a brother-and-sister team from Edinburgh, using the official Edinburgh Festivals Listings API. Ed Fringe Map is not affiliated with the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society.

Stats update automatically as the festival programme changes, so this figure is current.

THE STORY

Fringe Map is built by Oliver and Jessica Cormack, a brother and sister born and raised in Edinburgh. Every August their family did the Fringe together — flyers on the kitchen table, the paper programme on the floor, working out how to fit four shows into one Sunday.

Oliver worked three summers behind a bar in the Cowgate, where tourists off the train at Waverley would lean over and ask for a recommendation, overwhelmed by how much was on. Most visitors only ever see a corner of the Fringe. Fringe Map is the tool the two of them wanted to hand those tourists: every show, on one map, filterable in seconds. Oliver builds it; Jessica, a graphic designer, shapes how it looks.
