25 years since its UK release, EIFF presents a brand-new restoration of Jonathan Glazer’s (The Zone of Interest, Under the Skin) searing directorial debut. When retired gangster Gal (Winstone) is unwillingly approached by his sociopathic former boss (Kingsley) to undertake one last job, a tense, psychological game of cat and mouse plays out. A compact, gritty British gangster thriller featuring electrifying performances from Winstone and Kingsley, who won an Oscar for his explosive, nerve-shredding turn as Teddy Bass, set against the incongruously sunny backdrop of the Costa del Sol, this is a cinematic treat on the big screen.
