A British Pakistani mother would like to tell the story of her abusive relationship with a hip-hop dancer. (Yawn.) And how her family psychologically set her up for it. (Double yawn.) Manzoor takes on multiple characters, and a tidy victim narrative that refuses to behave itself. As the story she's spent years telling unravels in front of an audience, blame, grief, lust, family and memory collide in increasingly unexpected ways. Also: an alarming number of jerk offs.
